So, how do you know whether the voice you are hearing, the prompting you feel, and/or the thoughts you are thinking are from God? Well, in the moment, it can be hard to tell if you haven’t spent any real time with Jesus before you find yourself in a moment of decision.

The key to effective discipleship is:

• Spending time with God, like Jesus did
• Studying your Bible
• Memorizing parts of the Bible so the Holy Spirit can bring them to mind when you need them
• Talking to God through prayer.

Familiarize yourself with His voice. Get to know His heart. Learn the way He operates. Then, when the Holy Spirit speaks, you will know it because what you are hearing, feeling, and/or thinking will match up to what you already know to be true from what you’ve learned during your time with Him. You won’t have to waste time wondering, but will be able to act and that is when the real adventure begins!

Those who obey the Holy Spirit inside of them, doing what Jesus says to do when He says to do it, get a front row seat to God-sized miracles other people either don’t get to see or don’t recognize when they see them.

• Gauging by the amount of time and effort you put into it, where does Bible study fall in your list of priorities?
• Are you helping or hurting yourself?
• Are you helping or hurting others?
• When was the last time you saw God do something cool as a result of your obedience? Why is that?
