What Jesus Said About Assurance of SalvationSample
It is written... We can be sure of our salvation because it is written in the Bible.
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know you have eternal life (1 John 5:13).
These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing, you may have life in his name (John 20:31).
But the words "it was counted to him" were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also (Romans 4:23-24).
From Genesis 1 to Revelation 22, the Bible is God's written testimony about His works and the salvation of us as humans. When Satan came to Jesus during his 40 days of fasting, Satan came to tempt him. Three times, Jesus said to Satan: It is written… Jesus referred to the written word of God (Old Testament): Matthew 4:5, 7, 10. Jesus often quoted the Old Testament while saying: It is written… Matthew 2:5; Mark 9:13; Luke 3:4; Luke 6:5; John 12:14). Jesus found His proofs in the things that were written about Him.
1. Carefully consider the following: "I must build my faith and obedience on: 'It is written…' or 'The Bible says…'"
2. We must live with the certainty that everything we say and do is based on what is written in the Bible.
When we read in Matthew 4 about how Jesus was tempted in the desert, Jesus answered Satan every time with the words: "It is written..." Jesus built his authority and what was written about Him in the Old Testament, and we build our assurance on what Jesus said.
