Old Testament OverviewSample
The book of Job is a difficult but essential addition to the Old Testament, as it deals with the issue of suffering, particularly of suffering that appears unjust.
Job is probably the oldest book in the Bible and it records events that take place around the time of Abraham's call (Genesis 12:1-3).
After reading the passage use these questions as the basis for your discussion.
1. What stood out for you / what was interesting and why? (The Holy Spirit’s prompting)
2. What was the passage about / the main message / big idea? (The Word of God)
3. What should we do / how can we apply this message? (Faith in Action)

About this Plan
This plan is designed for families (our girls were under 10 when we used it); it can also be used for personal devotion. Each day uses the same 3 questions to explore the text. The plan provides a comprehensive "bird's eye view" of the Old Testament; the aim is to understand the first phase of God's salvation plan through the Covenants (relationships) which He established with His people.
