Jesus Said About How to Be WitnessesSample
Step 2 – Your life before you became a Christian
Yesterday, we learned how to start a spiritual conversation. Begin with: What is the best thing that ever happened to you? And after the person responds to my question, I can ask: Can I tell you the best thing that ever happened to me?
If you could describe your life before your salvation with two or three words, what would it be?
Typical examples:
Anger and confusion
Anger and rebellion
A bored and meaningless life
A thief and drug user
Selfishness and greed
Selfishness and full of pride
Arrogant and bitter.
Let us use anger and confusion for this exercise.
Your life before your conversion (20 seconds)
A good sentence to use when you begin to share your testimony:
There was a time in my life when I was full of anger and confusion. Describe this in a few sentences.
Step 3 - Your conversion (20 seconds)
Then, begin to share how you became a Christian. A good sentence to use is:
But then something happened…
In the life of every person, it happens differently. …
Examples:
I went to church, and someone explained to me why Jesus came to earth and how it applies to my life. I realised I wanted that!
I woke up one night and felt emptiness and a deep desire for meaning and to get rid of the burden of the things I did in the past.
I was alone in a hotel room, picked up a Bible, and started reading. I came across John 1:12. It simply touched my heart.
This can be followed up with the following:
That night, I discovered that Jesus died for me and rose from the dead. As I was reading John 1:12, I understood the words of Jesus, where He said that if I give my life to him, He gives me the right to be His child. Make a point of saying: I realised that Jesus died for me and rose from death.
