Full of It! Living a Life FULL of Faith.

DAY 1 OF 6

What is Faith? What is Faith based on? Even God’s chosen ones, the Israelites, struggled with this concept of faith for years in the wilderness. They struggled to believe that God would have them be victorious in escaping Pharaoh – then he parted the Red Sea. They struggled to believe that God would provide food – then he made it rain Manna. They struggled to believe that God would provide water – then He had Moses strike a rock, and a stream of water rushed out of it for all to drink. God promised the Israelites that he would be with them and provide for their needs, yet they still struggled to believe him because of the hardships that they were facing. Have you lost sight of the big picture or your faith because you’re stuck looking at the hardships that are right in front of you?

The Israelites had not seen God, but they had Moses as their leader, who had experienced God’s presence! They didn’t see God's face, but they saw him in the clouds and the fire! And beyond that – God called them to trust him, to believe him - to have Faith.

For us – we have the bible, the scripture that is all breathed by God. We haven’t seen his face yet, but

we have the history of who God is in the Word. We haven’t seen his face, but we have the Holy Spirit sealed in our hearts as believers, moving in and around us. And beyond that – God calls us to trust him. To believe him. To have faith.

And while having faith does require belief in the things that we can’t see – God, in his grace, has given us more than that as our foundation. He’s given us history, facts, testimony, and truth. In order to be strong in our faith, our belief, and our trust – we need to know the foundation of God's truth. We need to know what to cling to, how to pray, what to focus on, and where to draw our strength from, and that all comes from the Word of God.

Our foundation of faith is made strong when we seek God’s character, his promises, his love for us, and the power in his gift of salvation. And all of that is found in the Scriptures. He says when we draw near to him, he draws near to us. What a beautiful invitation.
