A Call for AuthenticitySample
Pasteurization
Pasteurization is a process that destroys microbes in food products.
Today, I'd like to talk to you about "pastoralization", the process of transforming the pastor into an inaccessible statue, draped in dignity.
I use the term "pastoralization", but this quest for ostentatious dignity threatens all Christians.
Pastoralization gradually destroys both the joy and the influence of those who submit to it.
Many Christians think that pastors are special human beings. This is especially true if they are used to seeing the Holy Spirit working through their pastor.
But you and I know that we're perfectly normal!
One day we went for a family meal with some Christians who had gotten to know us on the Internet before we ate together. At the end of the meal, they were all happy to say to us with relief:
"Actually, you're normal!"
My question to you today is:
Are you the same person at home as when you preach or carry out your pastoral duties?
Are you tempted to change your voice, your posture, your bearing, your clothes?
Tomorrow we'll look at the harmful consequences of pastoralization on your life and that of your children.
May God bless you
