Daily Prayers for Mornings

DAY 4 OF 10

Thankful No Matter What

Let us be thankful, then, because we receive a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Let us be grateful and worship God in a way that will please Him, with reverence and awe. HEBREWS 12:28 GNT

What makes you thankful? Is it a cool breeze on a hot summer day? Maybe a smile from a stranger at the grocery store? Perhaps the first buds of spring or the changing leaves of the fall? Giving thanks comes more easily at certain times, but we know from Scripture that giving thanks always draws us closer to the joy we find in life with Jesus. Oftentimes it can be difficult to be thankful. Trying seasons might leave you depleted, discouraged, doubting. But don’t despair. We know that if we believe in Jesus, we belong to “a kingdom that cannot be shaken.” No matter our earthly circumstances, the kingdom of God remains intact. So today, are you feeling down? Is it difficult to give thanks? Look to your heavenly Father, the God who knows you and saved you and cherishes you. Give thanks for Him today, and let that thankfulness carry you into a new season filled with joy.

God, thank You for who You are. Thank You for providing for my needs, for creating beauty all around me, for meeting me in seasons that feel lonely and full of despair. God, thank You for being worthy of praise, for always being good, for inviting Your people into a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Thank You that those who trust in You belong to Your family forever. May each encounter I experience with Your creation today point me back to Your unending goodness and provision. Thank You, Lord. Amen.
