HEARING GOD’S VOICE

Jesus says that His sheep hear His voice. His voice isn’t something distant, or an obscure frequency that we have to tune in to. Jesus desires to speak to each one of us because we were created to have fellowship with God. He speaks to us through His word, through our leaders, and through the Holy Spirit living in us! So ask God today what He wants to tell you about your situation or your life, and hear Him speak to you.

Jesus also says that He knows us. This is a call to a personal relationship with the Good Shepherd who longs to communicate with us and have a relationship with us! He knows us by name, and has a good plan for every person. There is so much security in knowing that the Good Shepherd is not just interested in what we do but in who we are! He knows our likes and our dislikes and He understands exactly how to speak to us and guide us because He knows us. And because He knows us, we can trust what He is calling us to do.

Jesus says that His sheep follow Him. When the shepherd calls for his sheep, he is not wondering if his sheep will follow. He expects them to follow, because to do otherwise would be dangerous for the sheep! Today, the Shepherd is calling you to follow Him. What is He saying to you? Make a decision today to follow Him, because that leads you into the place of safety and blessing.

God has an open heaven that He desires to place over our lives but we can only access that when we hear Him and follow Him! And the good news today is - we can hear Him speak, and He does speak to us!

RESPONSE

Begin hearing His voice by asking God to speak to you. As you open up your heart to hear Him, He will speak to you. What is He saying to you today about your situation, or where you are in life right now?

Are there things in your life that are distracting you from hearing God’s voice? If so, what are they? Begin to lay these things aside in this season and ask God to help you re-prioritize your attention to hear Him speak.

PRAYER

Dear God, thank You for being my Good Shepherd. I know You want to speak to me. I need to hear Your voice and live by Your Word. Help me to guard my heart and always be ready to hear Your voice. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
