God’s Help for Our Trials

DAY 3 OF 5

Guided by God

Let us now look at the process of seeking God’s wisdom in trials, emphasizing the importance of a heart aligned with God’s will and the value of the seeking process itself. Every trial is an opportunity to grow closer to God. When we face tests, our primary goal should be to align our desires with God’s will. This alignment is about reaching a place of neutrality where our sole desire is to please God, whether the path leads right or left. This attitude of surrender and willingness to follow God’s direction is foundational.

Prayer and the study of God’s Word are vital in this process. Another key aspect is seeking the counsel of wise, godly people. These individuals should be steeped in Scripture and capable of guiding us according to God’s Word, not just worldly wisdom. Their insights can often provide clarity and perspective that we might miss on our own.

Proverbs 3:5–6 teaches us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our understanding. As we navigate trials, God often directs us by opening and closing doors, guiding our steps in ways that may seem mysterious but are perfectly orchestrated. Whether it’s a closed opportunity or an unexpected opening, providential acts are God’s way of steering us in the direction He desires.

The key to understanding and accepting His direction is relying on Him. We often turn to other sources for guidance, overlooking the most crucial one—God Himself. Remember, God could impart wisdom effortlessly, but He chooses to have us seek it. This is not just about finding answers but deepening our relationship with Him.

In Proverbs 2, the pursuit of wisdom is likened to searching for hidden treasure. The search is part of God’s training for us in our trials. It teaches patience, deepens our faith, and brings us closer to understanding God’s heart. Don’t be discouraged when you feel like you lack immediate answers. The journey towards wisdom is as important as the wisdom itself.

As we continue, let this remind you that trials are not just about enduring or overcoming challenges but about actively seeking God’s guidance. It’s in the seeking that we grow, learn, and are transformed. Embrace this journey, knowing it leads to a deeper, more intimate relationship with God.
