Pause: A Month of Prayer in Five Minutes a Day

DAY 3 OF 30

Proclaim

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Phil. 4:6)

Prompt

From the wealthiest CEO to the lowest gig worker, from a successful performer to the unknown raw talent, from the smartest among us to those who get by on wits rather than intelligence, one thing is true for everyone:

Anxiety comes for all of us.

I don’t know about you, but I find it comforting to know I’m not alone in feeling anxiety. It’s a common experience—so common that Paul wrote about it in Philippians, telling us not to be anxious for anything.

This is also comforting because I know when God gives us a direction in scripture, He empowers us to live it out. And that power? Is prayer. Maybe not right away, and maybe not all the time, but in due time, we can be free of anxiety through prayer.

Prayer is available to all of us. Prayer is our way to freedom from anxiety.

Prod

What’s making you anxious right now? Write it down and set alarms to pray three times today about each of these places of anxiety in your life.

Praise

Listen to “Protector” by Kim Walker-Smith

Pray

Jesus, thank you for caring about the things that make me anxious. I ask you to work in my heart and mind today so that I can be anxious for nothing. Just like this song says, I disconnect from any lies that are keeping me in bondage, keeping me fearful, anxious, or worried! Instead, I claim victory over every area of my life because you are my protector! I cast my cares on you, God, for you CARE for ME! Amen!

About this Plan

Pause: A Month of Prayer in Five Minutes a Day

Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by pausing each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
