Pause: A Month of Peace in Five Minutes a DaySample
Proclaim
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)
Prompt
“Every faculty you have, your power of thinking or of moving your limbs from moment to moment, is given you by God. If you devoted every moment of your whole life exclusively to His service you could not give Him anything that was not in a sense His own already.”
What C.S. Lewis wrote in Mere Christianity back in 1952 still resonates today. Because there’s an immense peace that comes when we wake up to the fact that our every breath is a gift God has given us.
And there’s an even greater peace when we commit to the not-so-radical notion of giving those breaths—and the life they indicate—right back to God for His service.
Experience peace. Give back. It was never yours anyway.

What parts of your life are you keeping for yourself today?
How can you give those back to God?

Pray
Jesus, thank you for giving me life and for the peace that comes with it. Help me serve you with every part of me today. Take my breath and use it; take my mind and use it; take my heart and use it; take my mouth and use it; take my hands and use them! They’re all yours! USE ME! Amen.

About this Plan
Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by taking a pause each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
