Preparing for Marriage Biblically

DAY 12 OF 31

THE LAW OF PURPOSE IN MARRIAGE (1)

The first law that God wants us to understand as far as marriage is concerned is the Law of Purpose. The Law of Purpose relates to the reason God created and established marriage. The violation of this fundamental law is so widespread that even the priest’s charge in some wedding services includes a line like “Marriage was ordained first for pro-creation…” This is not in the Bible! God shows us this in Genesis. Marriage was not primarily ordained for procreation. Lack of understanding of this truth is the reason a lot of men fight their wives for not having a child.

The mystery of marriage is that everybody wants to get into it. Even little children play daddy and mummy, but they don’t know why marriage exists. If your marriage is not going fine, you should check which law you are violating. There is the law of purpose in life. The day a young man understands why he is on the earth and the assignment God has allocated to him is the day he qualifies to start seeking a wife. Sadly, many young men start seeking wives when they start having sexual pressure. No! That’s not the time for you to get a wife. This is why some men who have not discovered their purpose on the earth get married and all they do is have sex with their wives and waste them away with no direction or purpose for the family.

God’s first purpose for marriage was to take a man to his peak of performance, beauty, and fulfilment of divine purpose. Marriage is not to give you your purpose; it is not after you get married that you find out what you are on the earth to do. Instead, you should only look for a partner after you have discovered why you are on the earth.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to discover the purpose for which You placed me and my spouse here on earth. Amen!

About this Plan

Preparing for Marriage Biblically

Too many people today do little or no preparation when it comes to marriage; instead focusing their energy on a one-day wedding event! The Bible says, "Two are better than one, for they have a better reward!" For these results and rewards to follow your marriage, there is a preparation phase before marriage because it is when preparation and opportunity meet together that destinies happen.
