The Lord's Prayer (The Model Prayer)Sample
What debt do we owe to God? We owe Him obedience, faithfulness, and worship. Why? Simply because His greatness demands it. He is worthy of our worship, and therefore, we owe it to Him. And we have failed. Each one of us is guilty of falling short (Romans 3:23). Here we fall on the mercy of the cross and resurrection of Christ, and we ask Him to forgive us for our failure.
Confession and repentance are extremely important to the Christian walk. They are vital to the relationship a person has with God. But God doesn’t need us to tell Him that we have made mistakes; He already knows. So why confess our sin? It’s because when we sin, our fellowship with God is broken. The relationship is still there, but there is a chasm between that person and God that cannot be mended until the sin is dealt with.
If a husband says something hurtful to his wife, his fellowship with his wife is broken. They are still married. They still love each other, but the hurtful words must be addressed. Likewise in our relationship with God, our sin must be addressed. It is important to remember to confess our sin and turn from it. What unconfessed sin is in your life? Deal with that sin today, and restore your fellowship with the Father.
