Create a Habit of Prayer

DAY 4 OF 5

You might feel silly bringing small requests to God, but I think that is a lie Satan wants us to believe. This verse in Matthew reminds me how extensive the Father's love is for us and how nothing we could bring to Him is too small. In fact, it's important that we bring even the smallest things to God.

1. Those small things we think can be handled on our own expose how we view ourselves. When we reserve prayer only for certain things, we play God, deciding what we will give to Him. We analyze the hard facts of our situation and ask ourselves, “Is this something I can handle on my own?” Oswald Chambers said, “An unguarded strength is a double-weakness.” Our overconfidence leaves us susceptible to temptation. But when we bring to God even the small things we think we can handle, we release all the power in Heaven into our circumstances, which is far greater than even our greatest human strength.

2. Those small things that you hate to bother God with expose how you see God. His love for us is bigger than we will ever know. Don't shortchange God by assuming He doesn't care. Don't shortchange yourself by not allowing Him to be a part of every area of your life. He is not too busy or limited in how much he can handle.

Remember, friend. You are not a bother to your Heavenly Father. He longs to care for all aspects of your life.

ACTION STEP: Pray for those things that you are normally too afraid to bring to Him—the things that you think are too insignificant.
