Warrior Encouragement

DAY 8 OF 12

In case you missed it yesterday, we talked about seeking God first in EVERYTHING you do, not just the big stuff but everything. This is such a big point. I really want to hammer it in because when you start applying this principle of seeking God first, it will save you a lot of frustration, heartache, and worry!

Each morning in Afghanistan, I had to attend the Commander’s Update Brief or CUB. The point of this meeting was for department leaders to update the commanding general on the current situation in his area of operations and what missions we intended to execute. He was ultimately responsible for the overall success of the mission and the safety of the service members under his command. He keenly listened to all briefs and gave his approvals or disapprovals for taskings. Although I remember him being very reserved, when he said something, it carried a lot of weight, and we did what he said.

You too could have your own Commander’s Update Brief every morning with God. Think of it as a means of checking in with the One who knows every detail of your life, what is best for you, and what He has planned for your future. You can seek His insight on what’s keeping you up at night, learn how to handle problems at home or at work, and get to know Him as your heavenly Father. After all, He loves you more than you could ever know.

Spend time with Him in prayer. Read His word! Then sit still and listen to what He speaks to your spirit. That is the BEST way to start off your day! I promise that time is never wasted. It yields fruit in the form of peace, joy, patience, kindness, and so much more! Just do it!

Questions:

1. Do you have your own CUB each morning? If not, why?

2. If you could have more direction from God about something, what would you want to know?

3. Why do you think it’s important to know Him as a person and not only what He can do for you?

About this Plan

Warrior Encouragement

Every Christian is a warrior in God's army, but even the strongest soldiers need encouragement when fighting in the daily battles of life. This 12-day Bible plan was written by an Afghanistan War veteran with spiritual principles from her combat training that can be applied to any person, whether they served in the military or not.
