Testify With Kelontae Gavin

DAY 1 OF 7

"His Record Is Good" - Nobody Like Him

"The Lord is great and is highly praised; his greatness is unsearchable. One generation will declare your works to the next and will proclaim your mighty acts. I will speak of your splendor and glorious majesty and your wondrous works. They will proclaim the power of your awe-inspiring acts, and I will declare your greatness. They will give a testimony of your great goodness and will joyfully sing of your righteousness." - Psalm 145:3 -7

What is something you know you can count on being good? You might have a favorite restaurant where the food and service never let you down. Maybe your favorite actor hasn’t made a movie you don’t love. Or maybe when you hang out with a certain person, it’s literally always a good time. You know you can count on that restaurant, those movies, and that friend because they have a good track record.

Essentially, this is the story of Scripture. It is what David sang about in Psalm 145. It’s also what every generation can declare to the next: God’s goodness is real. You can count on it. In fact, God’s goodness is beyond even the best goodness you’ve ever imagined or could ever imagine. He is great in a way that surpasses any other greatness you know. His work—recorded on the pages of Scripture, made clear in His Son Jesus Christ, and continually revealed across time, culture, and circumstance—proves it.

And that fact should have some recognizable effect on your life. Think about it like this: You give time and attention to the people and things you know you can count on being good, right? All of us do. We show it by habit and priority. So, what about God? A right response to God’s good record is to trust Him with your life in a way other people can recognize. It’s to always search out the greatness of who He is and then tell other people what you learn. Nobody is like God, and you can count on His goodness. Will you speak that testimony today?

1) Listen to Kelontae Gavin’s “His Record Is Good.” What lyrics stand out to you as particularly encouraging? Which stand out to you as most challenging?

2) What might your priorities and habits show you believe is greater than God? What needs to change?

3) Thank God for who He is. Spend some time meditating on His greatness and giving praise to Him.
