Day 5: Sow the Seed:
You’ve made it to day 5! We’ve already talked about the most important seed we can plant— God’s Word. But there are other seeds we can plant, too. God calls us to regularly sow three types of seeds: seeds of time, talent, and treasure.
In some circumstances, God will lead us to sow seeds of time. He will ask us to give of our schedule to plant seeds of blessing into our futures and the futures of those around us.
Another type of seed God will often ask us to sow is seeds of talent. He has given us all various gifts, but they were not given to us only for our own enjoyment. They were also given to serve others and to build God’s Kingdom! His heart is that we use what He has blessed us with to bless others. Good works did not save us; Ephesians 2:10 says we were created for good works! We were created to plant seeds of talent that bring a harvest of glory to God.
While we may be more familiar with our talents, we should not ignore our spiritual gifts. Romans 12:6-8 encourages us to use our different gifts, whatever they may be.
God will often ask us to sow the third type of seed: seeds of treasure. I have experienced this urging in my life many times. When I submitted to it, sowing what I had, God brought an abundant harvest at the most perfect times.
Friends, where can you plant seeds for the harvest you are trusting God for? Seeds of your time? Talent? Treasure? Words? I firmly believe that you will see a great harvest as you sow seeds. As Ephesians 3:20 says, God is “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,” but we must trust Him to the point of action.
