Pray: 14 Daily Moments to Quiet Your Mind & Center Your SoulSample
Your words hold power. They can create life, or they can cause death. Your words can help and heal or cause hurt and harm. You can speak words of encouragement to build people up, or you can speak words of slander to tear them down. Whether it be a professional, familial, or social relationship, your words affect the quality and outcome of all your interactions with others.
Slow down a little to consider the words in your own life. Look for a place where you will be able to unwind. Without rushing, close your eyes and take a couple of deep breaths. Prepare your mind to receive wisdom, guidance, and assurance from God.
How do you use your words? Think about your week and what words took up the majority of your conversations. God asks us to choose our words wisely, for once they are released into the atmosphere, they cannot be called back. You can apologize and make amends, but the damage will have been done. A few words spoken in anger can cost you an irreplaceable relationship.
What you say can bring life or death, and you will reap the consequences of your words. Therefore, strive to apply love to everything you say. Choose to bring peace and harmony to your relationships through your conversations. Let the love of God rise up in you and overflow in your speech.
PRAYER
God, I praise You for Your greatness and Your power and Your glory You possess all the majesty and the splendor in heaven and on earth. You are exalted as Head over everything. I will praise You all the days of my life. God, I know that my words do not always honor You. Forgive me for the damage my words have done. Forgive me for the insecurity and pain my words have caused. Please give me a spirit of love and self-control so that my words honor You and Your creation. Thank You, God, for speaking loving words over me, words of peace, joy, and prosperity. You've blessed me with Relationships that offer kind words and words inspired and led by the Holy Spirit operating in my heart. Thank You for the blessings of past reconciled relationships and for those yet to come. Thank You for the wisdom and the knowledge found in Your Word. God, please give me restraint as I speak. Help me not lash out in anger. Give me wisdom for each conversation I engage in. Help me love people with my words, my encouragement, and my questions. Give me a spirit of teachability and humility, kindness and grace. Amen.
