Being Whole: 21 Days to Overcoming Relational Trauma

DAY 3 OF 21

REJECTION:

Human relationships are crucial to people’s survival and well-being. As researchers have dug deeper into the roots of rejection, they’ve found surprising evidence that the pain of being excluded, not wanted, and isolated is not so different from the pain of physical injury. This has been the stronghold I have needed the most grace to destroy. From feelings of not being wanted, to seeking unwanted attention, to adultery, to staying in relationships longer than God’s grace allowed, to working myself into physical illnesses to gain success, rejection almost killed me and destroyed my family. Rejection will lead you into years of victimization or a personal prison of loneliness. It took years of opening my heart to God and reserving it for Him and Him alone to nurture back to health and fill with good things.

Overcoming rejection as a Christian requires a deep understanding and acceptance of God's love and acceptance of us. We must trust that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that God's plans for our lives are good, despite the rejection we may face from others. It is also important to remember that Jesus himself was rejected by many, and to seek comfort in the fact that we are not alone in our struggles. We can find hope in the promises of God's Word and turn to prayer and fellowship with other believers for support and encouragement. It is important to let go of bitterness and forgive those who have rejected us, while also seeking to learn and grow from our experiences. As we allow God to heal our wounds and renew our minds, we can find peace and joy in knowing that we are loved and accepted by our Heavenly Father.

Question to Ponder:

How has rejection impacted your relationships with God, self, and others? Breathe deeply and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the faulty messages formed because of rejection. Now discover through God’s word what is true.

Day 2Day 4

About this Plan

Being Whole: 21 Days to Overcoming Relational Trauma

Trauma of any kind impedes our ability to experience the wholeness found in Christ. Relational trauma, trauma resulting from an abusive or dysfunctional relationship, often fractures our perception of God, self, and others. As a licensed Christian therapist specializing in trauma, I have witnessed true healing from trauma. In this devotional you will explore, heal, and grow beyond the areas of your heart that have been fragmented by relational trauma.
