Get Ready for a Miracle - Discover Hope and Faith When Facing the ImpossibleSample
Day 2: God is Able
In this faith journey, an essential truth we discovered was understanding the character of God. Not who He isn't, but who He is. His very name, I AM, speaks volumes about His nature. And, it's this revelation that helped us navigate the toughest times.
There's an inherent human tendency to keep expectations low, especially when the stakes are high. We're often aware of God's abilities, and His promises, but we hesitate, thinking, "Why would He intervene in my situation?" It's easier to maintain low hopes because, if nothing happens, the disappointment is manageable. We experienced similar feelings in our journey.
Consider the story of the Shunamite woman we are reading today. She was a faithful servant to Elisha, yet when asked what she desired, she said she needed nothing, despite a deep yearning for a child. But God, in His divine wisdom, knew her heart's desire and blessed her with a son. The twist came when her son suddenly died. In her sorrow, she reminded Elisha, "Did I ask my lord for a son? Did I not say, ‘Do not deceive me?’" Even though she had experienced a miracle, she didn't believe God could do it again.
Our journey mirrored this story. We experienced the tumultuous ride of hope and disappointment, the anticipation each month that maybe this time, we'd be pregnant. But, the most unexpected miracle happened right before another medical procedure.
We received the news of our first child’s impending arrival right there in the hospital. The realization dawned on us - indeed, nothing is impossible for God. This was a profound moment that reinforced our faith, serving as a testament that God is not just able, but He is also willing to work wonders in our lives.
This journey taught us that God's power is not dependent on our understanding or our circumstances. No matter what, He remains the same: powerful, able, and willing to perform miracles. He did it for us, and He can do it for you. Embrace this truth today and carry it in your heart. God is indeed able.
