DAY 5 OF 11

CAN’T GET ENOUGH

“Can’t Get Enough” expresses a simple yet fundamental theme: recognizing and loving Jesus. While we are inclined to search for God for many reasons, what this song focuses on is the primary craving – the thing we really need, the One we truly want. Our longing for Jesus is the truest desire we have because the Spirit of God which dwells within us calls to the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:11). They are one and the same Spirit; the deep which calls to deep. It is an invitation to come home, to return to a first love, to recognize Ultimate Reality, to encounter the Divine.

It is the communal fellowship the Father yearned for from the beginning, and the same desire which compelled his Son to put on flesh and to live amongst us. It is the same longing which drew the Resurrected Christ back into heaven so that the Holy Spirit could come and indwell. And now the Kingdom has come, the Spirit is ever-present, and all we need to do is to look, to recognize, and to worship. When we do, we participate in what we were designed for – Oneness – as Christ and the Father are one, as the Spirit and the Son are one, so we were made to be one with God (Jn 17:20-23).

What’s amazing about recognizing and loving God is that love doesn’t just remain within us; it is a presence which comes spilling out, showing the world what it looks like to love and be loved by our Creator. The bridge of this song expresses that reciprocal reality. As we discover more and more of God, we cannot help but manifest what we have seen. This was God’s goal—to share Himself, so that we in turn would share ourselves, seasoning the world with abundance, grace, and peace. He pours out, and our cup overflows.

  1. When you think about Jesus, where do your thoughts drift towards first – who he is or what he has done? Listen through “Can’t Get Enough” and focus your heart on the person of Jesus as described in these verses. Practice fixing your gaze on him and ask God to renew your fascination and wonder.
  2. What would you describe as the overflow of your life?

About this Plan

Ascend: An 11-Day Devotional With Red Rocks Worship

Join Red Rocks Worship in an 11-day devotional diving into their album, Ascend. It's often hard to remind ourselves of the truth we know, that God is omnipresent and always available to us. Psalm 139 tells us that we cannot hide from Him. Continuing in Psalms, David states that those with clean hands and pure hearts will experience His presence. Lord, clean our hands and purify our hearts!
