Day 1: Revelation for Too Many

Scripture Reading:

‘All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who believes in God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.’

- 2 Timothy 3.16-17 (NRSV)

The gap between our understanding and God’s understanding is much greater than between a cat and a human. We can’t expect to understand everything about God, but we can love and trust God. People are often turned off reading the Revelation because they hear it is difficult to understand, and we may have come across strange interpretations that scare and confuse us. Although we can’t expect to fathom the mind of God, we can be thankful that he has given us all of Scripture to help us understand him, ourselves, and what our purpose is in life. In this plan, we seek out how God is calling us to respond to the Revelation, how this Book can change us, and guide us to change our world to become ready for Jesus’ return.

Some things to think about:

1. Have you tried reading the Revelation before or heard it spoken about? What do you think it’s about?
2. You might know the book, A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. If you could buy a guidebook to life on earth, what are some chapters you’d like to see in it?
3. If you had the job of getting earth ready for Jesus’ return [spoiler: you do!], what is something you’d change?

Loving God, thank you for giving us the Bible so I can know you more. Thank you that you have good plans for my life. Let my heart be open to your Spirit as I read your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
