WARM-UP

“Now My soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came! Father, bring glory to Your name.”--John 12:27-28a

ON THE PITCH

It’s been said that the two most important days of your life were when you were born and when you discovered why you were born. God always gives us glimpses of our purpose and previews of our futures. It’s the instance you discover your passion for something or that you have a beautiful skillset to perform simple things at a high level. It’s the second when your eyes are open to the possibility that God has created you to do something special. It’s the sweet moments of affirmation from a stranger or a teacher who has seen you grow and develop over time.

Affirmation speaks to you and those around you. In Luke Chapter 2, the pronouncement of who Jesus was and what He was sent to do is confirmed by Simeon and Anna as Mary and Joseph take him to the temple for dedication. Imagine the relief and fear Mary and Joseph had as they heard about who this Child would be. In Luke 2:33 it says, “Jesus’ parents were amazed at what was being said about him.”

But as Jesus grew, it was evident he was not like the rest. At twelve, He was found sitting in the temple, asking questions and conversing with religious leaders. “All who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and answers " (Luke 2:47).

For the next eighteen years, Jesus grows as a Man and God’s Son, waiting for His time.

In John Chapter 2, the moment arrives. After being invited to a wedding and discovering they were out of wine, Mary, like a good mother, encourages Jesus to help this family in their time of need. Jesus’ time to die for us hadn’t come, but He willingly turned the water to fine wine. He was providing a picture of the blood He would shed for us.

We’ve all been gifted with unique skills and talents, and we will find a time when we can live out all we’re meant to be. It’s a matter of when that will be. Like Jesus, there is a moment of our release, the time when we step into our gifting and live out loud what we have been created to do.

This is your moment, your time, to be all you’ve been created to be!

God, help me to stay ready so that when You call, I am ready to respond. Help me not fear what I don’t know and be faithful to do what You ask.
