Faith Fire Fury: The Battle Plan for Biblical ManhoodSample
Manhood is a Mission
Fifteen years ago, God blessed my wife and I with the arrival of our first son. Soon after, God blessed us with the birth of two more boys, one right after the other. As we did with the first, we dedicated each one to God before knowing whether we would have more children. Staying true to our promise, we've made God an integral part of their life every day since they were born.
Whether reading the Bible to them while they were still in the womb, modeling prayer for them every day, or doing daily devotionals with them, we expose and infuse every part of their lives with God. We knew our promise to raise godly men would be a lifelong mission, not a one-day event.
Many men believe manhood is something you reach at a certain age, a rite of passage. However, biblical manhood isn't about "arriving." It's a lifelong mission of godly living through sanctification. Manhood is the mission of continual submission to God's will and purpose so that he can transform us into the likeness of his Son. We will complete our mission when we leave this broken and sin-infected body. However, until then, we're called to persevere and "fight the good fight" (1 Tim 6:12) as warriors for Christ.
But how do we accomplish our mission?
1 Corinthians 16:13-14 tells us how toaccomplish our mission as men. In these verses, there are a series of five present imperatives and three main guiding principles or tenets. This week you will be unpacking these five imperatives and three guiding principles or tenets (Faith Fire Fury) so that you can apply them to your life and live as a godly man living for Christ in accord with biblical manhood!
