DAY 5 OF 5

1+1=3: The Power of +

1 John 1:7 - "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."

Walking in the light is an essential part of our walk with Christ. When we choose to walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. In other words, walking in the light not only helps us maintain our relationship with God but also helps us build meaningful relationships with others.

The word “fellowship” in this verse comes from the Greek word koinonia, which means to share something in common. When we walk in the light, we share a common faith and a common desire to live according to God’s will. This shared experience of walking in the light creates a bond between believers that is unlike any other.

But walking in the light isn’t always easy. It requires us to be honest with ourselves and with God about our sins and our need for forgiveness. It also requires us to be open and vulnerable with others, allowing them to see our weaknesses and our struggles.

One of the ways we can walk in the light and experience fellowship with one another is by participating in a small group or Bible study. These environments provide a safe space for us to share our struggles, ask questions, and encourage one another in our walk with Christ. When we come together with other believers in this way, we are strengthened in our faith and equipped to face the challenges of life.

As we reflect on 1 John 1:7, let us consider two questions:

  1. Are we walking in the light, or are we hiding our sins and pretending everything is okay?
  2. Are we actively seeking fellowship with other believers, or are we trying to go it alone?

Challenge:

If you’re not already involved in a small group or Bible study, consider joining one this week. Look for a group that meets regularly and provides opportunities for you to share your struggles and encourage others in their walk with Christ. And if you’re already part of a small group, make an effort to be more open and vulnerable with your group members. Allow them to see your weaknesses and your struggles, and trust that they will support and encourage you in your walk with Christ.

Walking in the light isn’t always easy, but it is essential for our spiritual growth and for building meaningful relationships with others. Let us choose to walk in the light and experience the fellowship that comes from sharing our faith with one another.
