Romans Part 2 - FaithSample
TEAM JESUS
I’ve heard it said that there is no “I” in the word team, but there is a “ME.” The intent behind that statement is, “I got this. Let me do it.”
This season, baseball is starting up, and basketball is wrapping up, so I thought it fitting to write about a team. The team is owner-operated. The owner bought the team with His own blood. He coaches His team with an assistant, a helper named the Holy Spirit. Paul talks about this team in Romans 3:28; he boasts about His coach, Jesus, knowing that he couldn’t win the game without Him.
Paul knows that nothing is impossible for God.
Continuing with the metaphor, God uses our swing to hit home runs for His kingdom. Of course, we strike out occasionally, but when that happens, we go to our coach for guidance. He makes a difference. His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the dead fulfilled the law; this is then applied to us. This one-time payment for our sins resurrects us into a new life with Him. As anyone who has played sports knows, if you don’t believe in your coach, it’s hard to win. We are saved by faith!
So, believe in the greatest coach who ever lived: Jesus; He will make your path to home (heaven) straight. Jesus changes everything!
