What Would Courage Do?Sample

God gives me courage to do what’s right.

When something wrong is going on, sometimes people don’t have the courage to stand up and do what’s right. They might be afraid or worried. They might want to fit in and do what everyone else is doing. They might even be okay with the wrong thing, so they just do it!

But courage from God isn’t like that. It does the right thing, even when other people won’t.

In the Bible story, David did what was right, even when everyone else was afraid. Goliath was bullying God’s people and saying mean things about God. The army of Israel was too afraid to fight Goliath because he was a great warrior, and he was a giant!

None of that stopped David. He a was a boy, younger than any of the soldiers, but he stood up for God. He didn’t let anyone talk him out of it. God helped David win the battle.

Talk It Over: What did David do to show God’s courage? Talk about a time you had to do what was right, even though no one else was. If you can’t think of anything, think of some examples of times you might have to stand up for what’s right, even though others aren’t.
