A Kid's Guide To: God's Nearness in ChangeSample
Who You Gonna Call?
The Lord will protect you and keep you safe from all dangers. The Lord will protect you now and always wherever you go.
Psalm 121:7–8 (CEV)
“Who you gonna call?” the old song asks, and the chorus answers, “Ghostbusters!”
It’s fun for a movie, but when you need real help in life, who are you going to call? Hopefully your parents! Maybe some good friends or good teachers. And hopefully you know chaplains, pastors, and other people you can trust.
God gives us these people to be a safety net for us. Even if you are in trouble because of a mistake you made, there are people who love you, are quick to forgive you, and are ready to help you figure things out.
But the best person to turn to first in times of trouble is God. He is always there, ready and waiting to help you get through any situation. Sooner or later, people will fail you. They can’t be there every time. But God can.
So no matter what you are afraid of, no matter where you are or who you are with, look to God first for protection. Often, he will send help through the people you know, but sometimes his protection will come in a surprising new way.
SPIRITUAL FITNESS TRAINING
Think about the animal kingdom. God protects them in different ways by the way he created them. Can you think of how God protects birds, elk, and polar bears?
PRAY
God, it is awesome that I can call on you anytime for help. Please keep protecting me and my family.
