The Manhood Talks | Foundation & IdentitySample
Day 1 | Week 1 Video | How This Works
Welcome to The Manhood Talks! Over the next four weeks, we’ll open the Bible and engage in discussion as we explore together what God says about what it means to be a man. And you just might be surprised. If you’re expecting a clean-cut mold of what a “good Christian man” should be like, think again. God created a glorious diversity of peoples in mankind, and the Bible does not call the men of this world to lose that variety just to conform to some religious image of godly masculinity. Quite the contrary, God calls each of us to be transformed.
So here’s how this will work. The Manhood Talks consists of four weekly videos and eighteen daily audio guides for the days in between. This is Day 1, and the conversation begins on the Week 1 Group Video with our four guides for the journey: TeDese, Gabriel, Brad, and Kris. If you’re following the plan with a group, watch the video together, then follow up with the discussion questions below. On days 2 through 6, you’ll listen to an audio guide each day on your own, then follow up by reading a few Bible verses and answering a question for reflection. If you’re with a group, you can share your answers via group chat or the Plans with Friends feature. No group? We got you covered! Our hosts are here to guide you through the whole plan. We also encourage you to keep a journal to record the journey.
Time to get started! Watch the Week 1 video now, then use the discussion questions below to continue the conversation.
For Thought & Discussion:
Question 1: What does it mean in your world when someone says man up or be a man?
Question 2: When each man shared what man up means in their life, which answer did you relate to? Why?
Question 3: In Romans 12:2, what do you think is the difference between conforming to the pattern of the world and being transformed?

About this Plan
What does it mean to be a man? Manhood Talks is a four-week Bible experience for young men and their mentors, with weekly group videos and daily audio guides. Open the Word together to search out the foundations of our humanity and God’s calling on every man. Rather than conform to a cookie-cutter image of masculinity, the Bible calls us to transform back into the Image of God.
