What Is the Kingdom?

DAY 6 OF 7

As Jesus lived, taught and enlisted followers, one of the clearest ideas about the Kingdom of God is that God is on mission for people and He desires for us to be coworkers with Him. Jesus said over and over that He had come for a purpose:

  • to seek and to save the lost;
  • to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many;
  • to destroy sin; and
  • to destroy every work of the devil.

After healing Peter’s mother-in-law one afternoon, a revival of healing and deliverance broke out in the small town of Capernaum. Listen to what happened the next morning:

“And when it was day, he departed and went into a desolate place. And the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them, but he said to them, ‘I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.’” Luke 4:42-44

This passage is called the Great Commission! It is a co-mission - His and ours! This is the Kingdom way and the life He meant for us to live. We are to be a people who go and make disciples; a people who bring His word and His way to every area and every realm of life. He desires for His people to carry Him and His reign into the business world, the educational world, the financial world, and everyday life!

Reflection Questions

  • Do you believe that you’re called to this incredible journey?
  • Do you believe that God has purposes for you in everyday life? In your time with Him, ask the Lord some specific questions on how He’s desiring for this to happen in your life. He has something significant in store for you!
