God's Plan for Living: A Simple Roadmap for Your IDEAL Kingdom LifeSample
When you think about yourself, do you consider yourself to just be an old sinner who has been barely saved by God’s grace, struggling through this life just to make it? Or do you consider yourself a redeemed child of the living God, alive to God in Christ, and able to do all things through His strength in you? Your choice makes a huge difference.
Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection broke the power sin had upon God’s children once and for all. Instead of being a slave to guilt, fear, and shame, you have been restored as a child of God. Fully redeemed from sin’s penalty and fully reconciled back to a life-giving relationship with the Father. But the transformative power of that reality is only made manifest in you as you consider it true for yourself.
By grace, God redeemed, reconciled, and restored you to the Kingdom. There’s nothing you did to deserve it, and there’s nothing you can do to earn it. It’s a free gift. But it’s a gift that must be received by faith. Otherwise, the promise lays dormant. Even though your spirit has been made alive in Christ, your flesh will always continue to rise up, seeking to convince you that you are still ruled by your old sin-nature. Even though it may feel familiar and sometimes more comfortable, it’s no longer who you are. Your identity is no longer based on what you feel or what you have experienced in your life so far. It’s based on who God says you are. As you purposefully declare yourself dead to sin and alive in Christ, your new Kingdom reality will begin to flourish inside you. You are alive in Christ as God’s Child. A brand-new creation.
Embracing our new identity means embracing who God says we are along with what He says is possible for us in the Kingdom. Our disappointments, mistakes, and regrets no longer have the right to determine our future. The slate has been wiped clean.
Prayer
“Father, I praise you today for the finished work of Jesus on the cross to break sin’s power over me once and for all. Thank you that the power of sin is now dead in my life. I am no longer a slave to its power or influence. I declare today, I am alive in you through Christ! Holy Spirit, I give you permission to work inside me to transform my soul as I renew my mind to my new reality in Christ. Come Lord, have your way. Make me more like Jesus. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.”
