Have you ever been pursued by a love interest in a way that was honoring and respectful? Did it catch you off guard? Being in a relationship with someone who genuinely cares about your dreams and goals is so refreshing.

God desires us to pursue Him with our whole hearts. He not only wants to show us who we are in Him, but He wants us to get to know Him as our creator and our friend. Seeking God is the beginning of this pursuit and being curious about God is the fuel. As we find ourselves hungry to know more, He will reveal more. That revelation is bait to come deeper into the knowledge of who He is and how He functions in our lives.

So, what causes us not to pursue God? Distraction. We fill our calendars with to-dos such as the church bake sale, our kids’ choir concert, board meetings, and wellness appointments—all of these things are good! But are you finding time to get to know God? What is distracting you today? What has your undivided attention? What habits do you need to break to reset your gaze upon the One who holds your future?

Father, I release every distraction that’s holding me back from pursuing You and seeking You with all my heart, mind, and soul. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
