FTS-5 Day Reset With Nick Hall

DAY 5 OF 5

Be a Bridge

All of us have many people in our lives who don’t know Jesus, His love, forgiveness, and the precious gift of eternal life He offers. Perhaps it’s a family member, a colleague, a friend, a teacher, a coach, a roommate, or a frequently visited barista. The fact is, we all know someone.

We are meant to be a bridge for others to connect to Jesus. Being a bridge is being willing to take Jesus’ message and life to the streets, outside the four walls of our church and community groups. Being a bridge means understanding that discipleship is not truly discipleship unless discipleship ends in evangelism.

Despite our fears or desires to remain comfortable, we must step out and be used by the Holy Spirit to lead others into a more abundant life with their Creator (John 10:10). Think about it – you yourself wouldn’t know Jesus unless another person played a part in being a bridge to connect you to Him. Isn’t that crazy? God used someone else as a bridge, to therefore launch you out into the world to be a bridge! And oh, how crazy that God uses each and every one of us to draw others close to Him! You may not feel equipped to be a bridge (most of us don’t), but God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. And if you know Jesus, you are indeed called (Romans 8:30).

Sharing the good news of Jesus with others is absolutely the single most loving thing we could ever do. Loving our friends and family means placing our love for them above our own desire to be popular with them.

There may be people in your life who will never hear of Jesus until you tell them. And here’s the thing: if you don’t share about Jesus with them, there will be someone else that likely will, because God loves them enough to make sure they hear. But you will be the one to miss out. You will miss the amazing moment of witnessing God’s miraculous power working in and through you.

We are God’s chosen plan A to take His love and message to the world. You are called to be the bridge for others to experience Jesus for the first time.

If you are following Jesus, you have a story to share. You have a testimony of God’s grace and goodness in your life to give. That story most likely involved somebody loving you enough to share with you the life of Jesus. Allow it to sharpen you, equip you, and drive you out into the world to be a bridge. If nothing else, sharing your story and the good news of Jesus will remind you just how far you’ve come, and everything He has done in your life.

Don’t miss out on being a bridge for another. God will use you to change their life and surprisingly, it will change yours. Don’t miss this tremendous opportunity. Be faithful, be bold, share the Gospel, and be a bridge.
