Long Live the King: Finding Eternal Life Through JesusSample
Day 2: A Redeeming King
“Finally hell had been overcome by Jesus Christ the anointed one …”
The second verse of “Long Live the King” gives us the WHY behind the cross. Why did God send Jesus to the cross? Why has the cross become the centerpiece of our faith?
It boils down to redemption, and like any good redemption story- there was a beginning. In the book of Genesis, we see the fall of man and the introduction to sin in the world. This sin created a gap between creation (the world and humanity) having perfect communion with their creator. This is why, life without Jesus means there will always be a “distance” between your spirit, and the spirit of God himself. Jesus closed this gap by paying the wages of our sins on the cross once and for all so that we would have access to live an empowered life full of the spirit of God. All we have to do is confess him as Lord and Savior, then follow him.
The cross has given us access to the very throne room of heaven. What an amazing redemption plan our God authored!
Reflection:
Redemption is something that everyone has access to because of the sacrifice of Jesus. Take a few minutes to thank God for the areas where he has redeemed you. Can you Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring someone to mind who would be moved by this message?
