Resonate: A Musical Documentary On God And Creativity

DAY 2 OF 10

“Made in His Likeness”

“I’m not a very creative person.” Stop right there. Do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars. From now on, do not speak those words. This is not a fluffy request to help you feel better about yourself. This is about who you are as a human being. Let’s look at the creation story a little closer.

In Genesis 1:26 God says “Let us make mankind in our image, after our likeness.” These terms in Hebrew are not only used to discuss the appearance of Adam but also his nature, his inner landscape. The phrase “after our likeness” is kidmutenu and it only occurs in this instance, at the moment of God’s creation of man. A phrase he only used for us. He not only wanted humans to look like him but also to reflect his nature.

What does that mean for you now, countless generations after Adam? You were not only created to look like your Father but also to be like him. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus you are free to claim the likeness of your Father. You are a creative person because you are like your Heavenly Father. You do not have to be a musical prodigy to be like your Father. You do not need perfect technique. Creation is a demonstration of love and can be enjoyed by any child of God.

Take a few minutes in prayer and ask the Lord to show you all the different ways you are creative. Set aside time this week to create something with and for your Father!
