Taking Action Against DepressionSample
Day 2: Draw Near to God
When I was experiencing depression, I honestly didn’t want to talk to anyone. I wanted to stay to myself and sleep. Isolation seemed like a friend, but isolation was really my enemy. It wanted me to be alone and not realize that I wasn’t actually alone. God was always there.
God is always with you even when you feel like you’re alone and that no one understands or can relate. God knows your pain, sees you, and wants to help you. Drawing near to God is how you can experience freedom from isolation and other symptoms of depression. When you draw near to God, He draws near to you and blesses you with wonderful benefits. He is a friend, a comforter, and a giver of peace and comfort.
Therefore, I encourage you to draw near to God through playing worship music, praying, and reading comforting scriptures like:
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Psalms 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalms 145:18 “Remember that the Lord is near to all who call upon Him.”
Know that God loves you and is always with you. You can talk to Him whenever about whatever that’s troubling you, and He will comfort you with peace.
Prayer Point:
Heavenly Father, Almighty God, thank you for never leaving me or forsaking me. I ask that I feel your presence always and that you fill me with your peace that surpasses all understanding. I pray that you draw me near to you and you draw near to me. Lord bless me to be free from isolation and other symptoms of depression I may be experiencing. Remind me of your everlasting love and faithfulness. It’s in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
