You And Me Forever: Marriage In Light Of EternitySample

You And Me Forever: Marriage In Light Of Eternity

DAY 25 OF 30

"Heaven"

I can’t overstate how powerful the ending of the Bible is, when God shows John a brilliant vision of the end of the age.

Our difficulties in life and marriage are real. We get so worn out. We sometimes (often?) find ourselves on the verge of giving up. Life lets us down. Spouses let us down. Children let us down. We let ourselves down. Books and seminars and strategies (and apps!) that are meant to fix our broken lives and marriages leave us frustrated and increasingly hopeless.

But when we soak in God’s description of how it will all end, we gain perspective. We gain hope. We understand and believe that everything will be right in the end.

The day is coming when all of the struggle will end, and it will have been worth it.

When we come face to face with our Creator, He will dry our tears and reward us for pursuing Him—even when it was difficult, even when it was impossible. And if your marriage has been wonderful, remind yourself that something even greater is coming, and it’s worth pursuing even now.

Today, read through Revelation 21:1–22:7. Try to immerse yourself in the scene. See what John sees, hear what he hears, feel what he must have felt. Let these images form your imagination and direct your heart. Let your marriage be so engulfed in this vision that your life together here on earth is shaped by God’s eternity.

Discuss with your spouse: How would it change your life and marriage if you could keep this vision of heaven in mind?

About this Plan

You And Me Forever: Marriage In Light Of Eternity

In this 30-day reading plan, Francis and Lisa Chan set aside typical approaches to talking about marriage and dive into Scripture to understand what it means to have a relationship that satisfies the deepest parts of our souls. In the same way that Crazy Love changed the way we view our personal relationships with God, You and Me Forever will shift the way we view our marriage relationships.
