Face to Face With Jesus - a Lenten Meditation

DAY 20 OF 40

Jairus was a synagogue ruler but a more than that important designation was his incredible faith. He came to Jesus after his daughter died and asked him to lay his hands on her so that she would live. Isn’t that extraordinary? Asking someone to raise your child from the dead only meant that he trusted the testimony of Jesus that much and was willing to bet his dignity on Him. I’m sure Jesus went with Him out of sheer joy at being asked for something so great. On entering his home Jesus literally asks the mourners and the crowd to go away because “the girl is not dead but asleep”. That's God in the flesh right there. Only God could see life in a seemingly dead situation.

If your life or a situation or a relationship has seemed close to death of late, maybe it's time you brought the Life-Giver into it so that he could breathe freshness and vitality into an otherwise hopeless and dead situation.

Questions to ask yourself
Which area in my life seems particularly lifeless today?
Can I intentionally invite Christ into that space?
