Face to Face With Jesus - a Lenten MeditationSample
Jesus and his distant cousin John are contemporaries in ministry and yet one of them has the greater ministry of the two. John recognised that Jesus was of heaven and that he spoke the words of the Heavenly Father. John was of earth and he completed the mission entrusted to him, which was to be a forerunner to Jesus and to prepare the hearts of people to receive Him. His ministry involved baptising people who were repentant and desired to experience the kingdom of God.
While baptism is very important for every follower of Christ (if Jesus chose to be baptised we don’t get to opt out of it), what's even more important is to live a life that bears the fruit of repentance and renewal. Repentance should be ongoing as long as we are alive for we will never be perfect. In Jesus, we can find ourselves forgiven and restored to keep moving forward by his empowering. Renewal is an everyday thing where we recommit our lives to God in order for him to cleanse, fill and use as He sees fit.
As we commit ourselves to repentance and renewal we will gradually find our role in the kingdom of God and can live life to the fullest possible potential!
Questions to ask yourself
Is there anything that I need to repent for?
What is stopping me from giving myself wholly to the process of renewal?
