DAY 7 OF 10

A Position of Prayer, written by Cam Gordon

I have two amazing daughters who are constantly on the go. They are involved in sports teams, swimming lessons, school activities, as well as our usual Church programs, and more. As their Dad, I love to be involved in all of it. Admittedly, sometimes I get “too involved” and become that over-enthusiastic dad on the sidelines of the netball game, cheering louder than any other parent at every successful pass or shot my girls make.

When I think about how much I love to be involved in my own children’s lives, it reminds me of how much more our Heavenly Father wants to be involved and know what’s going on in our own day-to-day happenings. One of the best ways we can involve Him is through prayer.

Jeremiah 29:12 (NLT) encourages us that, as we pray to our God, He is always there to listen. He is waiting and wants us to connect with Him through prayer.

My kids often love to recap their games with me in the car on the way home. The fact that I was at the game watching and I already know what happened, doesn’t stop me from listening intently and affirming them. Even though our God knows everything about us and our lives, He still wants us to tell Him about it through prayer.

He loves to hear us! In fact, Psalm 141:2 (NLT) says that our prayer is incense offered to God. And like any relationship, whether it be a dad and his daughters, husband and wife, teacher and student, or you and God, the more time you spend together, the deeper your relationship goes.

So, give it a go. Start by telling Him about your day or asking for His help with your next task. No matter what you’re praying about, it’s guaranteed to deepen your connection with God.

  • How can you devote and allow time for prayer today?
  • Knowing that God is always listening, how does this change the way you pray?
