Roots, Shoots and Fruits

DAY 4 OF 4

ROOTS, SHOOTS AND FRUITS

We want to be people that bear good fruit, we're going to focus on our stewardship in relation to time and money. We want to be good stewards, people who take care of everything that God has given us, and establish a culture of generosity that produces good fruit.

Tony Evans: Focus on the Family:

A kingdom steward is a believer who faithfully oversees the protection and expansion of the assets God has entrusted to him or her to manage. Everything we have—our time, our abilities, our resources, our money—should fall underneath God’s overarching rule. While finances are only one aspect of stewardship, they are a critical aspect.

Ultimately all we have is from God, He is the Lord of heaven and earth. The world is His and we are tasked with wisely managing the resources for his purpose and His kingdom.

Psalm 24:1

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,

the world, and all who live in it.

In relation to our finances, here at C3 SYD we give because we want to put God first in our lives, we know that money is a tool, not the end goal. We want to be good stewards of our money and have a heart of generosity that knows the reason we have been blessed is for others.

Stewarding your finances well might mean that this year you could start budgeting, this is a great way to ensure that you are controlling your money, not the other way around. Also make sure you are saving money, saving honours God because it values money as a gift that he has given us to steward.

2 Corinthians 9:8 says that God is able to bless you so that you can have all you need and abound in every good work. God wants to bless you so that you have what you need but also, he has given you resources so that you can help those who are in need. As good stewards, we are called to be generous on all occasions (2 Cor 9:11), helping those in need, feeding the hungry, and taking care of the poor (Prov 22:9).

I hope this plan has helped you get ready to set up your year well with strong roots of prayer, sowing the seed of the Word into good soil, and being a steward that produces good fruit is all about maturity in Christ and bearing fruit for the Kingdom. It’s going to be a great year!
