The Lord spoke these words as a promise to Moses. In the midst of leading God’s people to the Promised Land, Moses was weary. He’d stepped out in faith and trusted God, going to follow His command to lead His people out of captivity. And honestly, this was scary business. It was dangerous, it was difficult, and it was certainly something Moses couldn’t do on his own. It was a lot of responsibility for one guy, and at this moment, Moses was feeling it. So, he did the only thing he knew to do: Moses went to God directly. He had enough faith to step up and speak out—to pause and get with God in His presence. In that pause, Moses asked God to remind him that He’d be with him every step of the way. And the Lord’s reply to Moses here is important for us to remember too! When we pause and take time to be present with God, we’ll find Him there. We’ll find rest in His presence. We’ll find the truth that we’re never, ever in it on our own; rather, we’re surrounded by the presence of God. This week, memorize these words from the Lord. Let them be a reminder that there is nowhere you’ll go in life that God’s presence won’t be with you to give you rest.

About this Plan
Being busy has become the norm—a way of doing things in a culture that celebrates and even encourages living life well beyond our mental, emotional, and physical capacity. The result? A hurried life. So what do we do? During this devotional, we’ll look at the value of slowing down, taking a break, and pushing pause when we need it the most to help us be present, connect with God, and see God’s presence in our lives.
