Year of the Bible: Part Eleven of Twelve

DAY 30 OF 30

Fellowship

The Greek word for fellowship is koinonia (pronounced koy-nohn-ee-ah). It means partnership, participation, and fellowship. Fellowship is why God created all of us: He wanted us to fellowship with Him. He created us to partner with Him in bringing His nature and character to the whole world.

The problem occurred when humankind chose to rebel and attempted to become like God on our own, which resulted in broken fellowship. But God put in place a plan to restore that fellowship. That plan is named Jesus.

Jesus is that which John heard, saw, looked upon, touched with his own hands, and declared to the readers of this letter—us. To us, John declares that we, too, can have fellowship with God again through Jesus. The result of that fellowship is joy, full and without measure.

We can come to God without shame or guilt because Jesus's blood has removed our shame and guilt. When we enter God's presence, He smiles and welcomes us with arms wide open, embracing us with joy-filled laughter and love. God is for us. Our life has meaning and purpose. Wow, of course we are filled with joy.

Question: How have you had fellowship with God today?

Prayer: Father, help me to fully embrace what You have embraced me for. Fill my heart with confidence that this is true: You desire fellowship with me. Thank you, Jesus, for being the way, the truth, and life so that I may fellowship with you!

See You Next Month: Our final month of daily Bible reading begins on the 1st. We hope to see you there; don't forget to start the plan and create your daily reminder.
