Sabbath...and the Rest Is Easy!Sample
Are you completely overworked?
I'd like to look again at yesterday's passages from the Bible because there are so many treasures in them for our TODAY! Are you ready?
"The LORD asked Moses, 'How long will these people refuse to obey My commands and instructions? They must realize that the Sabbath is the LORD's gift to you. That is why He gives you a two-day supply on the sixth day, so there will be enough for two days. On the Sabbath day you must each stay in your place. Do not go out to pick up food on the seventh day.'" (Exodus 16:28-29, NLT)
To quickly sum up, Moses was in the wilderness with the Israelites, and God simply wanted to give them one day of rest per week. But since they were afraid of falling short or not having enough, they preferred to press through and work anyways…Does that sound familiar?
God was not at all pleased with His people's choice because in His eyes, it reflected a lack of trust. Yet His desire was simply to lavish blessing upon His beloved people. To care for them spirit, soul, and body. To give them the gift of time with Him, time spent close to Him. Because He knew full well that this would change everything.
In God's presence, questions become answers. Lack turns into abundance. Lies are exposed, and truth is revealed. Tiredness becomes strength. Searching leads to finding, hopelessness turns into hope…and so much more!
But these blessings can only be experienced in peace and quiet. And entering into this place requires trust, which is probably the most difficult step. It means fully believing that God can take care of everything for you. What would that mean in your life? What might you have to adjust or change?
A small piece of advice...you can struggle all you want, but if God doesn't give you His blessing, you won't find what you're looking for or experience the success you're seeking.
After a few Israelites also went to work, searching for food despite God's offer of rest, their efforts proved unsuccessful. The Bible tells us, "Some of the people went out anyway on the seventh day, but they found no food." (Exodus 16:27, NLT)
Are you familiar with the lyrics of the Doxology, "Praise God from whom all blessings flow…"? We can be assured that we will experience these blessings as we choose to follow His life-giving counsel!
Yes, if you're able to put down the work sometimes, there will be great blessings in store for you! :-)
You are a miracle!
