Praise In the Presence of GodSample
Prepared for the King
Throughout the Psalms there is an interplay between David, king of Israel, and, in a prophetic sense, Christ—the King from whom David received his own throne. In Psalm 24 the rich imagery is of a great king approaching his city. As he and his colorful entourage approach the city gates, their presence is so commanding that the gates—the city leaders gathered in counsel—are exhorted to attend to their entry. The city and its inhabitants are to make the royal party welcome.
David proposes a royal welcome for the King of heaven. Are the gates to our hearts prepared to give such honor to the entry and enthronement of Christ, our King? Let every ear hear it! Let every heart-gate open freely for His entry.
