A Peaceful Season: A 5-Day Bible Plan on Having Peace During the Holiday Season

DAY 2 OF 5

Be Content

Have you been struggling lately to find contentment and peace in your circumstances? Some may say YES, and others may say; I am unsure how either impacts my life. Research shows that “how to be happy” has 7 billion searches and results, and “how to be content” has a little over 18 million searches and results. The lust for happiness is high, and it is a temporary feeling. Contentment is a long-lasting feeling accompanied by peacefulness, gratitude, and satisfaction. Would you rather be happy or content? Content with what you have, who you are, who you put your trust in, and where you are in life.

Trusting God is not about ignoring your feelings or reality. It is not pretending that everything is OK when it isn’t. It is respecting the existence of the present. It is appreciating what you have and where you are in life and who is leading and guiding you. Trusting God is living a life of belief in and obedience to God, even when it’s challenging to have happiness, contentment, or peace.

As you enter this holiday season, try not to let your emotions rule your life; bring them to God so He can help you address them. He is not disappointed or frustrated by your struggles, doubts, or pain. He cares about you, and you can live in peace, trusting Him with those things and be content.

As you read the scriptures, ask God for humility, discipline, and satisfaction and to purge your heart of all envy, corruption, and greed. Be content, people of God!
