Infinitum Family Advent, Week 3Sample
Jesus’ love is offered to everyone: no difference between old people or babies, your neighbor or the girl who lives across the ocean, guys or girls, smart or popular or sporty…the Bible says, “Christ is in [us] all.” And yet there are many ways the world teaches us that people are different from us. And sometimes, it’s tempting to believe that certain types of people are better or more deserving of Jesus’ love (or ours). But we are all God’s children & Jesus shows us how beautiful it can be when we choose to see each other as family rather than strangers.
Joy is one of the things you can expect to experience when you choose to see others like Jesus does (see them like family, no matter how different they are from us). What about seeing people this way might bring us joy?
But trying to be a good sister/brother to someone who is very different from you can be hard! So why do you suppose Jesus wants us to consider everyone as family?
Have you ever been given a job that made you feel important? You probably took that job seriously. You might have even given it your very best effort. It may not have come out perfectly, but when we try our best at something, we feel good about ourselves—proud of ourselves.
This idea Jesus has … to think of each other as family … is a world-changing kind of idea. That means it’s an important job for someone to do. And He is inviting US to be the ones to do it. When we give it our best - even when it’s hard and doesn’t work out perfectly—we have the chance to be proud of ourselves and change the world. To make the world a bit more like heaven on earth.
Can you picture how seeing people as family might make your part of the world a bit more beautiful?
Can you picture how seeing people as family might bring YOU joy?
