I Can Do All Things “In You”: A 5-Day Devotional with Iveth Luna

DAY 1 OF 5

“I used to be scared to dream, the fear of failure chasing me”

I grew up singing in church while watching my grandpa, dad and his brothers lead worship. From this experience, a seed of love for music was planted in me at a very young age. Around the age of 18, I felt the Lord confirm to me that pursuing music is what I was going to be doing with my life. It was a dream come true. In light of that, as a young teenager, I tried to walk through doors and pave my own way to see this will of God become a reality. Unfortunately, those doors shut quickly and I began to question whether I heard God correctly regarding His will for my life. I set this dream down and laid it at His feet, realigning myself to put Him first. I will admit that I didn’t always get it perfect, but it felt good to finally surrender everything to Him, even my dreams I held onto so tightly.

Sometime after this surrender, and seeking God first, I began to hear His voice so clearly. He said, “learn”, so I continued to learn from His word and grow in my faith. A few months later I heard Him say “get ready”. I knew something was about to happen that had His handprints all over it. Not much time after that, God put people in my life that believed in the dream that I had tucked away in my heart. I was excited, a little afraid to get my hopes up again, but it seemed obvious this was God’s plan and His timing. If He brought me to it, He was going to bring me through it!

Sometimes God gives us the gift of something too big for us to carry on our own. Something where we HAVE to lean into Him, where we HAVE to have faith in HIM. It’s truly the gift of dependence. I am so thankful that my plans in the past didn’t work out because God had something special for me, exactly at the right time. I don’t know what season you are in right now, but you can fully trust that because He loves you so much, God has plans to prosper you, not harm you, and give you hope and a future. He knows your dreams, but He wants your heart and your attention first. So, as we take on the day, let’s set our eyes on Him.

Application:

Write down Jeremiah 29:11 on a mirror that you see every day. Remind yourself of God’s love and plans for you!

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for keeping my future in your hands. I praise you for the gift of dependence to draw near to you. I pray to keep my eyes set on you and my faith IN YOU. Thank you for championing me in all that you call me to be! In Jesus' name, Amen!

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Psalm 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
