How to Fast for Your MiracleSample
Pray and Fast in Faith—Even When Your Miracle Takes More Time Than Expected
Have you ever wanted something so badly, but it seemed like God was answering everyone’s prayers but yours?
That was the case for Hannah. She was blessed by having a husband that loved her dearly, but her heart was still longing for another love—the love of a child.
She had asked the Lord before, many times before, but it seemed as if He was just not listening.
To make matters worse, her husband Elkanah had a second wife that had multiple children, and she took great joy in reminding Hannah of her ability to have a family.
Hannah’s heart was broken. Each year, she made her way to the temple to ask God to open her womb—to bless her with a family, to give her a child.
Often, we wonder why God is hesitant or slow to answer our requests.
How do we ask God and believe without wavering? Ultimately, the answers to our prayers are in the hands of God. But we don’t stop asking, we don’t stop seeking, we don’t stop knocking.
Miracles come from the heart of God, and it is His pleasure to meet the needs of His children. Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. His name was Samuel, meaning “because I’ve asked for him from the Lord and he heard my prayer.”
Don’t give up on your prayer. Don’t stop believing in God for your miracle. We are to expect a miracle.
Your Testimony Will Impact Other People’s Lives Beyond Your Greatest Imagination
Nehemiah was a follower of Yahweh God. Yet, he found himself in captivity under the Babylonians. When he heard that the walls of Jerusalem had fallen down, his heart was broken. This was his homeland. This was God’s people. When the king observed the broken spirit in Nehemiah, he asked him what he could do for him. In response, Nehemiah boldly asked if he could return and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
The king witnessed not only a broken spirit but a man convicted to pray and fast for his people.
Often when we are grieving, we do not have a desire for food. But God still sees the motive of our hearts.
Our heart is broken, and our spirit is grieved. Our fast is part of our prayer. It is something we do as an offering unto God.
As you fast, remember that others are observing your testimony. Whether you are feeling discouraged, grieved, or simply trusting God for your miracle—present your heart to the Lord.
He is the miracle worker.
