God's Precious Gifts for YouSample
Feel free to ask for God’s gifts
“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11)
It’s considered impolite to ask for gifts. Not so with God’s gifts! Jesus says that everyone who asks receives. He compares Himself to a father who is happy to give his child something to eat whenever he asks for it. Jesus encourages us to ask God for His good gifts. We can trust that He will not send us away empty. This does not mean that we will always get what we want, no matter what we ask, but it does mean that the Lord will give us what’s good for us. As our heavenly Father, He knows best!
Given that God is our Creator and that He is holy and righteous, our requests to Him should always be utterly respectful. We are not in the position to demand anything from Him, but as dearly loved children, we are encouraged to ask for anything we need: “In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6).
The Lord God is honored if we recognize our dependence on Him, ask Him for the gifts He has for us, and thank Him for His goodness.
Do you ask God for everything you need?
